Wieś Starogród
Zbocza Płutowskie is one of the larger steppe reserves in the Lower Vistula Valley, located near Starogród in the Chełmno district. It covers steep, sun-exposed valley slopes inclined at 20 to 30 degrees and rising to 87 metres above sea level. The whole reserve lies within the Natura 2000 site of the same name.
Protection focuses on xerothermic grasslands in which the spring pheasant's eye, flowering yellow in early spring, plays a major part. Alongside it grow strictly protected species: Siberian bellflower, delicate sedge, lady orchid, hairy milkvetch, meadow pasqueflower, purple viper's grass, Swedish whitebeam and feather grass.
The yellow trail of the Chełmno Reserves runs through the reserve, linking several similar stretches of the valley slopes. It offers wide views over the Vistula channel and the opposite bank. The slopes are steep and dry out quickly, so stay on the path — the grassland regenerates very slowly.
