Wieś Stanisławów
Kamień Hill, also known as Piekiełko, rises to 348 m above sea level in the central part of the Roztocze range, within the Krasnobród Landscape Park near the village of Stanisławów. The reserve was created to protect a cluster of limestone blocks on the summit — the only rock formations in Poland developed in Miocene deposits.
Scattered through the forest, the blocks form a maze of crevices and narrow passages that gave rise to the name Piekiełko, meaning little hell. One of the rocks holds a corridor barely three metres long known as the Tunnel in the Stone, shaped by the gravitational slippage of a limestone slab. The slopes are steep, with a height difference of up to forty metres on the southern side.
The easiest ascent follows an educational trail from Stanisławów, equipped with information boards, with benches placed at the top. The blue central Roztocze trail from Bełżec to Szastarka also passes nearby. The climb is short but steep and stony, so hiking boots are well worth wearing.
