Sulejów Reservoir (Sulejów Lagoon)

The Sulejów Reservoir is one of the largest bodies of water in central Poland, created between 1969 and 1973 by damming the Pilica River with a dam in Smardzewice. With an area of approx. 2,700 ha and a length of approx. 17 km, it is a popular fishing ground and recreation spot.

Location and surroundings

The reservoir lies in the Łódź Voivodeship, between Sulejów and Smardzewice; the dam is located in Smardzewice near Tomaszów Mazowiecki. A no-wake (quiet) zone applies on the reservoir.

What's on offer / What to see

Numerous crucian carp, roach, bream and white bream are caught here, as well as carp, grass carp and pikeperch (the reservoir is known for pikeperch catches). The wooded shores are conducive to relaxation.
