Wieś Chłopowo
The Długogóry nature reserve lies in the Choszczno district, in a forest complex between the villages of Chłopowo, Piaseczno, Stołeczna, Czerników and Pniów. It protects part of an end moraine of the last glaciation, from its Pomeranian phase, together with the Pomeranian beech forest growing on it. The terrain is clearly undulating, with numerous erratic boulders.
Protected plants and mosses grow among the old beeches, including oak fern, wood small-reed and yew. Small ponds persist in the hollows, with aquatic and marsh vegetation forming separate micro-habitats. Among the animals are the European pond turtle, the black stork and the wood sandpiper — species that need quiet and clean water.
A short walking route of about 1.9 km leads through the reserve, equipped with boards describing the origin of the landform and the aim of protection. It takes little time to walk, and the differences in elevation are noticeable although modest. After rain the forest paths can be slippery.
