Wieś Wola Serocka
The Dąbrowy Seroczyńskie nature reserve protects part of the Seroczyn forests in the Siedlce district, in eastern Mazovia. It stands out for the large share of sessile oak and its rich forest floor. The area also belongs to a Natura 2000 site of the same name, where thermophilous oak woods and subcontinental oak-hornbeam forests are the object of protection.
Old stands with plenty of deadwood shelter woodland birds: the goshawk, hoopoe, red-breasted flycatcher, spotted nutcracker, middle spotted and black woodpecker and firecrest all nest here. On the forest floor and along the woodland edges grow rare brooms — Ruthenian, prostrate and black broom — tied to warm, well-lit oak woods.
The red Trail of the National Uprisings runs along the edges of the reserve, combining natural values with the history of the region. Dirt roads cross the forest and a walk through the reserve requires no particular fitness. It looks best in spring, before the leaves are fully out, and in autumn.
