Szczawnica
The Zaskalskie-Bodnarówka reserve lies in the Szczawnica commune, in the valley of the Skalski Stream, which flows into the Grajcarek at Jaworki. It also covers the steep, wooded slopes of Mount Skalskie (789 m above sea level). Protection extends to the valley landscape, the natural forest communities and the vegetation of the limestone rocks and steep slopes.
The most distinctive formations stand at the entrance to the valley: Dziurawa Skała and Czerwona Skała together form a kind of rock gate. A little further on, hidden in the forest and barely visible from the track, rises Podyrgałyłska. The path then runs along the streambed, among limestone walls and outcrops typical of the Małe Pieniny.
The approach is not one of the main tourist trails and can be demanding in places — the route leads over stones and crosses the stream. Before setting out it is worth checking access rules with the forest district in Krościenko. Trekking boots are useful, and after rain the water level rises noticeably.
