Władysławowo
The Słone Łąki reserve protects coastal halophilic meadows stretching along Puck Bay, between Władysławowo and Swarzewo. This is floodplain land at the base of the Hel Peninsula, where seawater periodically floods the ground and maintains a salinity rare in the Polish landscape.
The substrate determines the vegetation: salt-tolerant plants grow here, among them sea plantain, seaside centaury and club-rush, and the reserve holds the only present-day site of the salt-marsh species jarnik solniskowy in Gdańsk Pomerania. The shallow pools attract water birds — gulls, coots, mute swans and many species of duck, most numerous during migration.
The ground is uneven, grassy and boggy in places, so high waterproof boots are useful. Observation is best done from the edges, without entering the habitats. The reserve lies right beside the built-up area of Władysławowo, so a visit combines easily with a walk along the bay.
