Wieś Cieleszyn
Parów Cieleszyński is a deeply cut ravine near the village of Cieleszyn in the Świecie district, within the Lower Vistula Landscape Parks complex. Its slopes reach gradients of up to 70 degrees, and in places active landslides and washouts are visible. The small Struga Niewieścińska stream runs along the bottom of the ravine.
The main attraction is the exposed sandstone, a rare sight on the Polish Lowland. Water and wind have carved hollows, niches and overhangs with an almost cave-like feel. One shelter is about two metres wide and half a metre high, narrowing inwards into a fissure; the largest overhang measures nearly seven metres. These are the finest formations of their kind in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region.
The slopes are covered with deciduous trees: pedunculate oak and small-leaved lime, with fly honeysuckle, elm, elder and hazel in the undergrowth. Exploring calls for care, as the ground is loose and steep.
