Głuchołazy
Grota Bialska, also called the Bialska Adit or Grota Góralska, is a short underground cutting in the slope above the valley of the Biała Głuchołaska river, on the edge of Głuchołazy in the Nysa district. The passage follows a quartz-feldspar vein set in hard mica schists.
The tunnel is about ten metres long, over three metres wide and two and a half metres high, so you can walk through it upright. The contrast between the pale mineral vein and the dark surrounding rock is striking. The cave is a protected natural monument and a shelter for bats: horseshoe bats, Daubenton's bats and brown long-eared bats.
The cutting was driven in the second half of the 19th century by a local promenade society, and after a flood in the early 20th century the riverbank was rebuilt and an easier walking path laid out. Today it links the cave with the spa district of Głuchołazy and the trails of the Opawskie Mountains.
