Wieś Bobolice
Brama Laseckich, listed on official maps as Brama Bobolicka, is a limestone tor shaped like a gateway, standing right in front of the entrance to Bobolice Castle in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. Its name commemorates the present owners of the stronghold.
The rock is built of limestone laid down in the Jurassic period, when a shallow sea covered the area of today's upland. The opening of the gate was carved out by karst processes and weathering, which removed the weaker parts of the rock and left the characteristic arch.
The formation was only uncovered during work on the rebuilding of the castle, which is why it is called the youngest attraction of the upland. Steps cut into the rock survive beneath the gate, a trace of an old path leading from the stronghold towards the village. A look at the rock takes a quarter of an hour and combines easily with touring the castle.
