Wieś Żerkowice
Skała z Medalionem is a sandstone tor on the south-western slope of Wieżyca hill, right beside the village of Żerkowice near Lwówek Śląski. It is about 22 metres high and shaped almost like a regular tower, which sets it apart among the many rock forms of the area. The tor is protected as a monument of inanimate nature.
The name refers to a medallion once mounted in the upper part of the wall. The ornament was stolen, and the coat of arms of Lwówek Śląski was hung in its place. The rock itself is sometimes called Wieżyca, after the hill it stands on. It once served as a viewpoint, and the idea of restoring that role keeps coming back.
The walls are popular with climbers, with more than a dozen bolted routes of varying difficulty. A green waymarked trail passes by towards the palace in Skała, and further sandstone crags around Lwówek Śląski lie within a few kilometres.
