Wieś Hutki-Kanki
The Parzoch wetland, also called the Parzoch pond, formed in the upper course of the Centuria river near the village of Hutki-Kanki in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. It is a small, shallow body of water surrounded by marshes and wet meadows, crossed by one of the cleanest rivers in the region. Only a few hundred metres of narrow path separate the wetland from the springs of the Centuria itself.
The marshy setting of the pond is a habitat for water and wetland plants, including the Polish scurvy grass — an endemic species listed in the Polish Red Book of Plants and tied to cold, strongly oxygenated spring waters. Clean, cold water and a stable temperature make the Centuria valley one of the most valuable natural sites in the upland.
This is a place for a short, quiet walk rather than a full-day trip. It is appreciated by photographers, nature watchers and anyone looking for silence away from the popular castles of the region.
