Wieś Iwla
The waterfall on the Iwelka lies in the village of Iwla in Krosno County, in the western part of the Low Beskids. The water drops over two rock steps: the upper one is about four metres high, the lower about two. It is a small but striking feature — one of the better known waterfalls in this part of the Carpathians, hidden in a wooded hollow of the stream.
The damp microclimate of the hollow favours plants that are hard to find in the surrounding forest. Mosses, lichens, liverworts and common polypody grow on the rocks and tree trunks. The whole basin of the waterfall forms a dense, shaded and permanently moist habitat, so move carefully and do not leave the beaten paths.
The approach is poorly signposted. The easiest way is to follow the cycle path — the waterfall is on its right-hand side, right next to the stream. Information boards and a bench have been placed on site. The descent to the water can be slippery after rain, and the cascade is at its most impressive in spring and after heavy rainfall, when the stream carries the most water.
