Wieś Świnna Poręba
The Świnna Poręba Dam holds back the waters of the Skawa in the Wadowice district, creating Lake Mucharskie. Construction began in 1986 and the structure was officially commissioned on 26 July 2017. It is an earth-fill dam 54 metres high and 604 metres long, with the upstream face protected by concrete slabs.
The reservoir serves flood control and water retention for the Skawa valley, and a hydroelectric plant with a capacity of 4.4 MW operates at the dam. The complex also includes a modern fish stocking facility that supports the recovery of fish populations in the region. From the crest there is a view over the lake and the surrounding hills of the Little Beskids.
The dam was opened to visitors only on 26 June 2022, five years after the investment was completed. For safety reasons access to the crest is limited and possible at weekends during the summer season. The visit is short and combines well with a drive around the reservoir.
