Czarna Młaka is a small forest lake on the slopes of Malnik and Czarne Garby, just above the centre of Muszyna in the Sądecki Beskids. It formed eight or nine centuries ago, when a landslide blocked the outflow of water and created a natural dam. The lake is among the most interesting natural corners in the area.
Originally the lake covered nearly two thousand square metres; today its surface is roughly ten times smaller and its depth reaches three metres. This is the result of ecological succession, the natural overgrowing of the water body. Conservation work has temporarily halted the process, allowing amphibians to regain their breeding grounds.
Boardwalks run around the water, letting visitors watch life beneath the surface without stepping onto the boggy shore. Roofed shelters, information boards, waste bins and bicycle racks have been set up. The approach follows forest paths from the Muszyna side and is short, though steep in places.
