A small lake near Gorzów

Jezioro Polne, recorded officially as Santoczynek, lies by the village of Santocko in the Gorzów district, a few kilometres from the centre of Gorzów Wielkopolski. Locals also call it Leśne, the Forest Lake, while an incorrect name, “Mironickie”, circulates online. The lake is small but surprisingly deep — its bottom reaches about sixteen metres, which sets it apart from the shallow ponds nearby.

Beach and swimming

A small beach with soft sand has been arranged on the shore, and a wooden pier makes entering the water easier. It is one of the closest bodies of water to Gorzów, so it gets busy on hot days. The intimate scale of the place and the gentle entry into the water suit families with children.

The surroundings

Forests with a network of dirt roads surround the lake, convenient for a walk or a bike ride. Much of the shoreline remains wooded, so even in season a quieter spot is easy to find. The visit combines well with sightseeing in Gorzów Wielkopolski.
