Wieś Komańcza
The waterfall in Dołżyca lies in the Komańcza commune, Sanok district, in a quiet corner where the Bieszczady Mountains meet the Low Beskids. The water drops over a rock step on the Dołżyczka stream, surrounded by dense, wild vegetation. For years the spot was known mainly to locals; today it draws a growing number of visitors looking for less crowded destinations.
The cascade looks most impressive in spring, during the snowmelt, and after several days of rain — in summer, at low water, the stream can be modest. The descent to the streambed runs down a steep clay bank that turns slippery after rainfall, so shoes with good grip are useful.
Marked mountain trails run nearby and the Slovak border is within a few kilometres. Komańcza itself, with its wooden architecture and monastery, is a natural base for exploring this part of the Carpathians.
