A pond in a former clay pit

Staw Glinianka „Rynas” lies in Podlesie, one of the southern districts of Dąbrowa Górnicza, on the site of a disused brickworks. The pond filled the pit from which clay was extracted for decades to make bricks. The water has a calm, intimate character, framed by trees and gentle banks — a place for a short walk and a moment's rest rather than a full-day trip.

Traces of an industrial past

Podlesie once had three brickworks, and Rynas was probably the largest of them. Remnants of the plant can still be spotted in the terrain: fragments of the kiln foundations and old hardened surfaces. The distinctive reddish tint of the banks comes from the clay lying just below the surface.

Who it suits

It appeals to anyone who likes post-industrial sites reclaimed by nature, and to local walkers. Access is easy and the ground flat, and a visit takes little time — easy to combine with other attractions of the Zagłębie region.
