Kayaking on the border river

Kayaking trips on the Bug set off from a base in Orchówek near Włodawa, on the edge of Polesie. The routes follow the Poleska Dolina Bugu kayak trail — one of the finest stretches of the river, which here marks Poland's eastern border. The Bug runs in a natural, unregulated bed, with numerous meanders, sandbanks and high bluffs.

How a trip works

The programme covers one-day outings of varying length, from two to several hours. Participants leave their car at the base and are driven by minibus to the starting point; a return transfer is provided afterwards. Short shuttle rides mean most of the day is spent on the water rather than travelling.

The surroundings

The meadows and oxbow lakes along the Bug are among the best birdwatching areas in the country. Nearby it is worth seeing Włodawa with its complex of churches of three faiths, and the Polesie National Park.
