The Brama w Gorce Nature and Education Centre lies in Waksmund near Nowy Targ, at the foot of the Gorce range. It combines education with recreation and was designed for families with children and for groups who want to get to know mountain nature actively, without a long climb. The grounds are extensive and landscaped, with the individual attractions spread along footpaths.
On site there are viewing towers with panoramas of the Gorce, Tatra and Pieniny mountains, a walkway running through the treetops, a shepherd's hut in traditional style, and play and learning zones devoted to local nature. The displays introduce Carpathian plants and animals as well as the region's pastoral traditions.
Waksmund sits on the road from Nowy Targ towards Krościenko, close to the trailheads of the Gorce National Park and to the Dunajec rafting route, which makes it easy to plan a base here for several days.
