Porcelanowa 2E, Tułowice
The Museum of Silesian Porcelain occupies the buildings of a factory in Tułowice in the Opole region, founded in 1886 by the Schlegelmilch family, who came from Thuringia. Before 1945 it was one of the largest porcelain works in Silesia, and its products reached Europe and the United States. Production continued after the war, and in 1976 the plant was expanded as the Tableware Porcelite Works; the factory closed in 2001.
The restored interiors reopened in 2024 as a museum. They display the output of fourteen Silesian manufactories, often the only surviving traces of those factories. The exhibition is arranged as a theatrical set of offices, counting rooms and salons, showing Art Nouveau, Art Deco and modernism in porcelain, with the soundscape of the old works.
The museum will appeal to lovers of craft, design and industrial heritage. A recreated designers' studio operates here, and visitors can take part in porcelain decorating workshops.
