Ferry across the Bug near Drohiczyn

The crossing links Drohiczyn in Podlasie with the village of Bużyska in the Korczew commune, on the Mazovian bank of the Bug. The landing lies west of the small town's centre, near the Benedictine church of All Saints. For drivers it is a shortcut that avoids a detour of several dozen kilometres to the nearest bridge.

How the ferry works

It is a cable ferry: the vessel moves along a line stretched between the banks, driven by the current of the river. The crossing takes a few minutes, and from the deck you can see the panorama of Drohiczyn with Castle Hill — a former stronghold site towering over the valley. The ferry does not run after dark, in rain or in thick fog.

Good to know

The season usually starts on the long May weekend. When the Bug runs high the service is suspended, so it is worth checking the town office announcements before setting off. The approach leads from the church of the Assumption along Kościuszki, Mickiewicza and Zdrojowa streets.

  • Surfaced approach to the landing
  • Parking space by the bank
  • Crossing available for passenger cars
Visit duration: approx. 10 min Seasonality: Season from the May weekend to autumn; no crossings after dark or at high water
