An aquarium by the seaside promenade

The Oceanarium in Kołobrzeg is a compact aquarium exhibition in the centre of the spa town, a few steps from the beach and the port. The collection shows the fauna of warm seas and of fresh waters, accompanied by species descriptions. It is often chosen as a fallback for a rainy day on the Baltic, but works equally well as a short stop between the beach and a walk through town.

What you can see

The tanks hold sharks, rays, moray eels and piranhas — the species that attract children's attention most. Next to them are reef and lake fish of unusual shape: lionfish, triggerfish, pufferfish and cichlids from Lake Tanganyika. The exhibition is compact, so everyone can set their own pace of visiting.

Who it suits

The place is aimed above all at families with children and school groups, for whom the visit has an educational dimension. Sightseeing usually takes about an hour. The oceanarium is open all year, with the heaviest traffic in the summer season.
