Lake Hańcza

The deepest lake in Poland and across the entire Central European Lowland, located in the Suwałki region within the Suwałki Landscape Park. Its area is about 311.4 ha and its maximum depth is 108.5 m (sources give values of 105–113 m). A glacial ribbon lake, oligo-mesotrophic, with crystal-clear, well-oxygenated water and transparency reaching up to 8 m.

Fishing

A fishery valued by anglers but difficult due to the depth and clarity of the water. Species present include zander, bream, perch, whitefish, vendace and relict fauna species. The lake is partly under nature reserve protection, which imposes restrictions on fishing.
