Mikaszówka Lock is a historic single-chamber lock of the Augustów Canal, picturesquely situated in the heart of the Augustów Primeval Forest.

Location and surroundings

The lock lies at approx. km 69.1 of the canal, in the village of Mikaszówka in the Płaska commune, Podlaskie Voivodeship, surrounded by the woods of the Augustów Primeval Forest.

History

The lock was built as part of the construction of the Augustów Canal (1824-1839) to the design of General Ignacy Prądzyński. It has retained a character close to the original design, with wooden gates.

A single-chamber lock in a forest setting, one of the most picturesque points on the eastern section of the canal, popular with canoeists.
