The City Lock is a historic chamber lock in the centre of Bydgoszcz, entered together with its associated buildings (engine house, control room, lock-keeper's house) in the register of monuments. It forms part of the international E70 waterway.
The lock is located in the city centre, on Karol Marcinkowski Street, near the Solidarity Bridges, in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The first, wooden lock was built here in 1774 together with the opening of the Bydgoszcz Canal. The present structure was built in 1908-1912 and put into operation in 1915. In 2005 the City Lock complex was entered in the register of monuments of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
A chamber lock with a dock measuring 57.4 x 9.6 m, with double-leaf mitre gates, allowing a level difference of about 3 m to be overcome. The Bydgoszcz water tram passes through the lock.
