Gawrony Lock (Ślesin Canal)

The Gawrony Lock is one of the four locks of the Ślesin Canal, with the largest drop on the canal, on the Great Loop of Greater Poland trail.

Location and surroundings

The lock is located at approx. km 24.2 of the Ślesin Canal, near the village of Gawrony in the Ślesin commune, in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. The Gawrony weir is located nearby.

History

The lock was built as part of the construction of the Ślesin Canal (1936-1949), connecting the chain of Konin lakes into the navigable Warta-Gopło route.

What to see

A lock 59.6 m long and 9.6 m wide, with a drop of approx. 3.55 m, together with the adjacent Gawrony weir.

An attraction for sailors and water tourists of the Great Loop of Greater Poland.
