Bajory Lock

An unfinished lock on the incomplete Masurian Canal, which was meant to connect the Masurian lakes with the Baltic Sea via the Łyna and Pregoła rivers. The lock chamber was completed to about 90%, but most of the equipment is missing - the structure was never put into operation.

History

The Masurian Canal was built in two stages (turn of the 19th/20th century and the 1930s); the works were never finished due to the outbreak of World War II. On the Polish side there are 5 locks, including Bajory.
