The Czarna Hańcza together with the Augustów Canal is one of the best-known water trails in Poland. The route runs through the Augustów Primeval Forest and the Wigry National Park. The first part (the river) is picturesque and free of obstacles; the second — from Rygol to Augustów — leads along the historic Augustów Canal with its system of locks and through lakes.
The trail begins in the Wigry area and leads to Augustów. The total length of the tourist trail is about 93 km. PT SZOT is a local trip operator active since 1996, with a base in Augustów.
Trip stages include: Wigry–Maćkowa Ruda (10 km), Maćkowa Ruda–Frącki (18 km), Frącki–Dworczysko (14 km), Dworczysko–Mikaszówka (12 km), Mikaszówka–Płaska (12 km), Płaska–Przewięź (14 km), Przewięź–Augustów (13 km).
The trail is varied — from calm river sections to passages through locks and lakes; suitable for amateurs and more experienced paddlers alike.
The operator provides equipment rental, transport and support for individual and group trips.
Trips take place in the kayaking season (spring–autumn), depending on water conditions.
