The Żnin Narrow-Gauge Railway (historically the Żnin County Railway) is one of the best-known narrow-gauge railways in Poland, with a unique 600 mm track gauge. It connects Żnin with Wenecja, Biskupin and Gąsawa along a currently operating stretch of about 12 kilometres.
The route runs through the picturesque Pałuki region, linking tourist attractions: the Narrow-Gauge Railway Museum in Wenecja, the castle ruins in Wenecja and the Biskupin archaeological reserve.
The railway was built in 1894. Originally the network branched out from Żnin in several directions. During the communist era most narrow-gauge lines were dismantled, and regular passenger services ceased in 1962. The surviving stretch operates as a tourist attraction, run by the Pałuki Land Museum in Żnin. Among the rolling stock in service is the historic Px38 steam locomotive.
A family attraction combining a ride on a historic train with a visit to Biskupin and the railway museum.
The starting station is in Żnin, with intermediate stations in Wenecja (by the museum), Biskupin and Gąsawa.
Main season from around 30 April to the end of August (with events in September in Biskupin). Off-season rides by telephone reservation. The current timetable is published by the Pałuki Land Museum.
