The Dunajec Gorge between Sromowce and Szczawnica is considered one of the most picturesque in Europe. The river cuts through the Pieniny range, forming a deep, winding ravine with rock walls reaching up to 300 m in height. Port Pienin organises kayak and pontoon (rafting) trips here.
The main base is in Szczawnica, with the starting point in Niedzica (Polana Sosny district). The trip runs through the Pieniny National Park.
The most popular route, Niedzica/Sromowce–Szczawnica, is about 19 km long and lasts 2–3 hours. Available are 1–2 person polyethylene kayaks and 2–3 person pneumatic ones (for people without experience). A hiking/cycling + kayak variant is possible.
The route is accessible even to people without experience (pneumatic kayaks); a family trip.
Free parking at the finish, a barbecue area, hot drinks, coach transport (departures on the hour).
Season 1 April – 31 October, open daily 8:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. (winter trips on request).
