Żuławy Commuter Railway

The Żuławy Commuter Railway (ŻKD) is a historic narrow-gauge railway with a 750 mm gauge, running through the Żuławy Wiślane region and the Vistula Spit. One of the route's attractions is a ride across a swing bridge.

The railway serves the Sztutowo - Prawy Brzeg Wisły and Nowy Dwór Gdański Wąskotorowy - Jantar routes, running through seaside and Żuławy landscapes.

History

The beginnings of the narrow-gauge railway in Żuławy date back to around 1886 and the transport of sugar beet (the sugar factory in Nowy Staw). The modern tourist railway resumed services on 15 August 2002, and regular operations began on 21 June 2003. The infrastructure belongs to the Nowy Dwór County, and the operator is the Pomeranian Society of Railway Enthusiasts.
