Ełk Narrow-Gauge Railway

The Ełk Narrow-Gauge Railway (EKW) is a historic railway with a 750 mm gauge in Masuria, with a main line from Ełk to Turowo (about 38 km).

Location and surroundings

The railway runs from Ełk through the picturesque areas of the Ełk Lake District.

History

The railway was built between 1910 and 1918 on the commission of the Ełk district governor; the first section opened on 23 October 1913. After the war it was incorporated into PKP. In 1991 it was entered in the register of historic monuments, and since 2002 it has run tourist services. Since 2014 it has been managed by the Historical Museum in Ełk.
