Starachowice Narrow-Gauge Railway

The Starachowice Narrow-Gauge Railway is a historic railway with a 750 mm gauge, connecting Starachowice with Iłża and running through the Iłża Forest.

Location and surroundings

The line runs along national road no. 9 through the forested areas of the Iłża Forest; currently two sections are in operation: Starachowice - Lipie and Iłża - Marcule.

History

The railway was completed in 1950, using an existing trackbed. It handled freight and passenger traffic; freight services finally ended in 1994. In 1995 it was entered in the register of historic monuments, and since 2004 it has been reactivated by the Foundation of Polish Narrow-Gauge Railways.
