Piaseczno-Grójec Narrow-Gauge Railway

The Piaseczno-Grójec Narrow-Gauge Railway is a historic railway with a 1000 mm gauge, running as a tourist line on the Piaseczno - Tarczyn section (approx. 15 km). It is a popular destination for trips from Warsaw.

Location and surroundings

The historical network ran from Warsaw via Piaseczno to Grójec, Mogielnica and Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą. Today the Piaseczno - Tarczyn section is in operation, through fields and forests south of Warsaw.

History

The railway opened on 30 October 1898. It was incorporated into PKP in 1949; passenger traffic was suspended in 1991 and freight in 1996. It has been reactivated as a tourist railway since 2002.
