Starachowice Narrow-Gauge Railway - Iłża - Marcule section

The historic Starachowice Narrow-Gauge Railway (750 mm gauge) operates, in addition to the Świętokrzyskie section, also a section on the Mazovian side: Iłża - Marcule (approx. 7 km), running through the Iłża Forest.

Location and surroundings

The section runs from Iłża (Mazovian Voivodeship) towards the Marcule forester's lodge/centre, through the Iłża Forest.

History

The railway was completed in 1950, using the existing track bed linking Starachowice with Iłża. Freight services ended in 1994, and in 1995 the line was entered in the register of monuments. Since 2004 it has been reactivated by the Foundation of Polish Narrow-Gauge Railways.
