Gold Mine in Złoty Stok

The Gold Mine in Złoty Stok is an underground tourist route in a former gold and arsenic mine, featuring Poland's only underground waterfall.

Location and surroundings

The site is located in Złoty Stok, near the border with the Czech Republic, in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. For centuries, Złoty Stok was one of the most important gold-mining centres in Europe.

History and what to see

The route comprises two adits - "Gertruda" (approx. 500 m) with a museum exhibition, and the "Black" adit (approx. 700 m) leading through 16th-century, hand-hewn workings. You can see Poland's only underground waterfall, take a ride on an underground tram, mint a commemorative coin and try your hand at gold panning.
