Uranium Mine in Kletno

The Uranium Mine in Kletno is an underground tourist route in a former uranium ore mine in the Śnieżnik Massif, presenting the history of mining in this region.

Location and surroundings

The site is located in Kletno (Stronie Śląskie municipality) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, on the northern slope of Żmijowiec in the Śnieżnik Massif.

History and what to see

The mine operated during the period of uranium extraction in the 1940s and 1950s. Today a section of the mining galleries is open to visitors - the route is safe in terms of radiation. The guided tour presents minerals, mining techniques and the history of the site.

For individual tourists, families and groups; other attractions of the Śnieżnik Massif are nearby.

Infrastructure

Constant, low temperature - warmer clothing is recommended; a walk from the car park to the adit.
