Krzemionki is an extensive complex of Neolithic banded flint mines - one of the best-preserved sites of this type in the world, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The site is located approx. 8 km north-east of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, between the villages of Sudół and Magonie, in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.
The flint mines were exploited from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age (approx. 3000-1600 BC). The visit includes a permanent exhibition in the museum building, a tourist route with underground sections (approx. 500 m below ground) and a reconstructed Neolithic settlement. The prehistoric banded-flint mining region was inscribed on the UNESCO List in 2019.
