The museum in Bóbrka is located on the grounds of the world's oldest still-operating oil mine, founded by Ignacy Łukasiewicz.
The site is located in Bóbrka (Chorkówka municipality, Krosno County) in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. The open-air museum covers an area of about 20 ha.
In 1854, Ignacy Łukasiewicz, together with Tytus Trzecieski and Karol Klobassa-Zręcki, founded the world's first oil extraction enterprise here. Original 19th-century hand-dug wells (including "Franek" and "Janina") have been preserved on the site. The museum (since 1961) presents the history and technology of oil and gas extraction, including an underground multimedia exhibition devoted to the gas industry.
For individual tourists, families and groups; guided tours available on selected routes.
Open-air museum covering about 20 ha; underground gas exhibition accessible by stairs or lift.
Open all year; closed on Mondays in winter.
