Reinforced Concrete Bridge in Ełk

A reinforced concrete road bridge across Lake Ełckie, with four spans and elements faced with red stone. The tollgate posts are topped with turrets covered with ceramic tiles, and steel lanterns are a decorative feature.

Location and surroundings

The bridge, along Zamkowa Street, connects most of the town with the Grunwaldzkie estate and the Teutonic castle in Ełk (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship).

History

Built in 1910 to replace a wooden bridge threatened with collapse; named Suermondt-Brücke by the Prussian authorities. Entered into the register of monuments (no. A-3193) on 12 September 1991.
