Marian Lutosławski Bridge in Lublin

A historic reinforced-concrete bridge over the Bystrzyca River - one of the first reinforced-concrete bridges in eastern Poland. It is about 40 m long and 16.3 m wide.

Location and surroundings

The bridge lies on the extension of Zamojska Street in Lublin (Lublin Province).

History

The design was made in 1908 by engineer Marian Lutosławski (with architect Jan Heurich the Younger); the bridge was built within a year and opened on 17 July 1909 on the Bychawa road, connecting the industrial part of the city with the centre. It was entered in the register of monuments (no. A/956) in 1987. In 2011 it was thoroughly renovated and reopened in 2013 as a pedestrian-and-cycle bridge; in 2012 it was named after Marian Lutosławski (it also functions as the Bridge of Culture).
