Oder Bridge in Krosno Odrzańskie

A historic steel road bridge over the Oder, probably the oldest working road bridge in Lubusz Province. It is about 146 m long; the structure weighs about 580 tonnes and is decorated with Brandenburg eagles and historicising lanterns.

The bridge spans the Oder in the centre of Krosno Odrzańskie (Lubusz Province), on the Zielona Góra-Słubice road.

History

The first mentions of a wooden bridge at this site date back to around 1300. The present steel bridge was built in 1904-1905; the structure was made by the firm Beuchelt & Co. from Zielona Góra. In 1945 the central section was damaged and was rebuilt in 1948 according to its original form. In 2005 the bridge's centenary was celebrated.
