Railway bridge in Wisła (viaduct in Łabajów)

A reinforced-concrete, seven-span arched viaduct - the highest railway viaduct in the Beskids and one of the highest of its kind in Poland. It is about 122 m long and about 25.6 m high.

Location and surroundings

The viaduct spans the valley of the Łabajów stream in Wisła Głębce (Silesian Province), on mountain railway line no. 191. Coordinates: approx. 49.62367°N, 18.87053°E.

History

Built in 1931-1933 (contractor Ksawery Goryanowicz), to a design by engineers Stanisław Saski and Tadeusz Mejer, under the supervision of reinforced-concrete specialist Jan Gustaw Grycz. It was ceremonially opened on 3 September 1933. By a decision of 5 April 2024 it was entered in the register of monuments (A/1371/24).
