Railway viaduct in Kowary

An impressive viaduct of granite blocks, built in 1903-1905 over Wiejska Street and the Jedlica stream. It was part of railway line no. 308 linking Jelenia Góra with Kamienna Góra.

Structure

  • Four spans, height approx. 13 m, length approx. 74 m.
  • Made of carefully selected and polished granite; the span vaults are of ceramic brick.
  • Arched vaults and stone balustrades.

Current state

The line was closed to passenger traffic in 1986 and to freight traffic in 2000. The viaduct is a tourist attraction of Kowary.
