Railway Bridge in Stany

A former railway bridge over the Oder in the village of Stany, on the disused railway line No. 371 Wolsztyn - Nowa Sól - Żagań. It now serves as a pedestrian and cycling bridge.

Structure

  • Erected between 1907 and 1908 by Beuchelt & Co. of Zielona Góra.
  • A single-track, riveted, steel truss structure.
  • 19 spans, a total length of approx. 644 m, with a main span of over 100 m.

Fortifications

The bridge was fortified during construction - blockhouses in the form of neo-Gothic towers connected by an underground passage, with their own water intake, were erected on both sides.
