Rotating Railway Bridge in Rybina

An exceptional hydrotechnical monument built between 1905 and 1906 on the narrow-gauge Stegna - Nowy Dwór Gdański line, over the Szkarpawa river. It still retains its original functions.

Structure

  • A rotating span approx. 37.5 m long set on a main concrete pier.
  • A steel structure, with an additional fixed span and abutment.
  • Rotated manually - two switchmen make twelve turns with a large key.

Status

Part of the Żuławy Narrow-Gauge Railway and the Żuławy Loop.

Scope

  • An active historic rotating narrow-gauge railway bridge; an attraction on the Żuławy trail.

Seasonality and hours

Narrow-gauge railway rides mainly in the summer season; the bridge itself can be viewed all year round.
