St. John of Nepomuk Bridge in Olsztyn

The oldest bridge in Olsztyn, on the Łyna river at ul. Prosta, on the border of the Old Town and the Podgrodzie district. Erected on the site of the Lower Gate, which collapsed in 1806.

History

  • In 1869 a sculpture of St. John of Nepomuk by Wilhelm Jansen of Cologne was placed on it.
  • The figure was lost after World War II; in 1996 a copy of the shrine and monument was funded.
