Two Mills Settlement in Talar

A complex of two historic watermills on the Grabia river, in the village of Talar (Dobroń municipality) in the Grabia valley, near the village of Łdzań. The Jan Radgowski Museum opened on 7 July 2024.

Location and surroundings

The settlement is located by the picturesque backwaters of the Grabia river. The first mention of the settlement appears in the chronicles of Jan Długosz from 1568.

History

It is one of the largest wooden mills in Poland and one of the best-preserved complexes of two watermills in Central Europe. In 2008 the mills were acquired by Jan Radgowski and his family, who devoted his life to rebuilding the forgotten complex. After his death (2022), the work is being continued by the family.

What to see

The museum exhibition includes ceramic artefacts, sculptures and historical objects; visitors have access to one of the oldest historic hydroelectric mills in Poland.
