Post windmill in Miecmierz

A wooden post windmill standing on the Vistula escarpment at the end of the Miecmierz hamlet near Kazimierz Dolny. It dates from 1911 and was relocated here (about 45 years ago) from Bałtów by Ryszard and Maria Dziadosz; a similar windmill stood at this spot about 200 years earlier.

Characteristics

  • Private property; the interior has been adapted for residential purposes (5 levels).
  • Latin maxims have been placed on the sails.
  • By the windmill there is a viewpoint with a panorama of the Vistula bend.
